The assignment: Launch a shade extension line of Maybelline's Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick. The collection name is "The Un-nudes" and features neutrals that skew slightly outside of the traditional range. We were asked to create digital, television and print ads for the launch.
The solve: The given collection name "The Un-nudes" was an unique one to work with, as it could be taken in a number of directions. After pitching a variety of routes, the client ultimately chose to align with our insight that women do not have just one "nude" shade that suits them best. In fact, you are (and should be) free to wear nude colors that are lighter, darker, or completely different from your personal skin tone. We created our digital, TV and print spots to evoke this sense of personal color freedom, challenging consumers to redefine their definition of "nude".
